If it's a new template, I go to the admin panel and hit "redeploy" and it will usually load it. If it's a modified template, it doesn't always seem to load. (Others probably have more experience with this than I do - I'm still in development mode)

You can also just bootstrap one node - and if your content isn't in your module jar you wouldn't need to rebootstrap the content each time. You can use the force bootstrap runtime setting to specify which node to force bootstrapping.

I ask this because we are providing regular updates to templates that
have to move into test and then production. We can't keep bootstrapping
and restoring content every time we introduce a new template.
