To export the entire repository, I usually go to the "development tools" button and click on the option there - I think it has something like "backup site" or something that wants to dump the xml into the boostrap/common directory... I usually change that to something like backup_DATE and then go to the second part on that form and select to just do the website repository, and to start with "/" - it will put the exported files into your /WEB-INF/ directory under whatever name you give it.

Wow, thank you for this suggestion!!

Total time for backup site in development tools: 15 minutes
Total time for export: 9 hours 30 minutes and STILL running!

I don't think I need the second part of the form, as the first part exported all the pages along with the other configurations. They are all in separate files, but at this point I don't really care about that, I just want something I can import into the site, and this gets it for me without needing to right click on many nodes manually and select export.

The database size is nuts. Have you run any database-level maintenance on it? Are you using MySQL? If it's growing that big, and you aren't doing many versions - perhaps there is some wasted space in there that some maintenance routines would help to free.

Yes, we are using MySQL, and the versioning is set to the default number of versions (2). I am not really a DBA, so I have not run any maintenance on it. However, in the past we've noticed that some databases which claimed to be larger than they were shrank simply by doing a mysqldump and reimporting the tables. The Magnolia databases are the same size upon re-import as they are before dumping them. It almost seems to me like even though it's supposed to only be keeping 2 versions, it's never ever getting rid of any.

Thanks,
Miranda
