I don't know if Jacbrabbit 1.4 is just a drop-in replacement or not...
The maven tests from the command line aren't failing when I use jackrabbit 1.3.3 - so I think the 1.4 is actually the issue. For some reason when I ran them through intelliJ they must have picked up a 1.3.3. jar somewhere to run with.
I didn't do a "mvn clean install" on my bundled webapp, so when it built the war file it had the 3.5.4 snapshot files and the 3.5.5 snapshot files both loaded in there... and I didn't notice it until I watched the log and saw magnolia was identifying itself as 3.5.4- snapshot... Woops.
So... I don't think it's quite as easy as changing the pom file around - (unless someone else tried it and had any success)
