So ... does activation work? Also could you take a peak inside
logs/magnolia-debug.log for each at the time you try to delete/rename a
page? No subscribers on the public side should be normal as there isn't
a reason for the public side to have any. The authoring side does need
a subscriber properly configured to talk to the public side though.

I checked the public side and there are no subscribers listed in
there, could that be my problem? Do I need to have something pointing
back the other direction from the public to the author instance?
Thanks,

Tom.
did you configure a subscriber on the public instance or did
you activate the subscriber from the author onto public? That
can cause problems such as the one you described. Is the
subscriber on the author turned on?

Thanks for the response Giancarlo. I apologize but I
didn't write the
first sentence very clearly and see that I implied
something different
than what I meant.
I meant to say I have tried this on an author and public
instance that
are both version 3.5.3 and an author and public instance
that are both
version 3.5.8.
Thanks,

Hi Tom
Well, you are not the only one :-)
In 3.5.4 the url for the activation has changed. When
activating from
a 3.5.4 author instance to a 3.5.3 public instance I got a 404 on
/.magnolia/activation.
After updating the public instance to 3.5.4 activation worked fine.
I assume there is a better work around then updating the public
instance to 3.5.4 or higher. But the update was rather easy, I
emptied the /WEB-INF/lib on my 3.5.3 instance and copied
all the jars
from a
3.5.4 /WEB-INF/lib folder.
Cheers
Giancarlo

The problem is when a user deactivates an activated page it
does not
delete it from the public instance. Same thing happens
when a user
deletes or renames an activated page. Could I have
something wrong
with my config that would make this not work properly?
I'm finding it hard to believe that other people haven't
run into the
same problem if it were a bug in Magnolia.
