Magnolia International Limited has today announced the
immediate availability of Magnolia 3.6, a new release of its
simple to use Open Source content management system. The new
version is up to ten times faster and includes enterprise
grade features for dramatically improved back-up, caching
and publishing of content items across multiple Magnolia
sites.

Performance enhancements have been focused on improving the
system for end-users, making Magnolia 3.6 ten times faster
when importing and activating content, formatting and
creating paragraphs, managing revision and more.
The new caching system in this latest release offers
incredibly refined, granular control of caching and cache
clearing (flushing). This enables administrators to create
customized, strategic caching solutions which are optimized
to meet the load patterns of a specific website and to
ensure high availability of every single content element.
Magnolia 3.6 also offers an updated staging mechanism that
ensures continuity of content in larger, multi-site
implementations. The Transactional Activation Functionality
guarantees a successful transfer of content items or changes
authored in one Magnolia site (usually a staging or
authoring site) and then published to multiple public
Magnolia sites or 'subscribers'. This ensures that content
items and changes created on the authoring server reach all
remote Magnolia sites. Alternatively, if there is a
technical problem in publishing to one of the subscribers,
the content is not published by any subscriber until the
issue has been resolved. This removes the common problem in
many multi-site CMS setups, where intermittent technical or
network errors during the publishing process can, over time,
cause subscriber sites to get out of sync in their display
of what should be identical content.
Backup has also been refined in this latest version of
Magnolia, allowing administrators to roll-back through
previous edits of a content item. This new backup feature
offers a particularly helpful tool for corporate users
looking to migrate sites from one Magnolia instance to
another.
