As with the newsletter module that I proposed about two weeks ago the question is: How can we build or integrate such a thing so that it still complies to Magnolias "Simple is beautiful" slogan?

a) Is it easier to build something based on the PUR and data module (and maybe forum module) from ground up with less features but fully integrated into magnolia? b) Or should we try to integrate blojsom or Apache Roller as well as possible with Magnolia?

Of course b) is always preferable because we don't want to reinvent the wheel but the result should look like this: - Magnolia module that can be installed by simply dragging the jar to the WEB-INF/lib folder and restarting Magnolia
- Using Magnolia users / permissions management
- Storing data in repositories (no need for additional DBs running and configurations)

I have not had a look at the two suggested blog engines, but I would guess that this is not that easy to do...

will

You can make something based on the forums module. But I second the
opinion expressed by spudnik, there are plenty of good solutions for
blogging. You have also bunch of rss paragraphs/templates/modules
available that can render the content of blogs to various degree. That
being said, it might be interesting to see integration of Magnolia with say WordPress ... having Magnolia to fetch the content from the blog and
render it on the site with support for re-posting comments back to the
original blog entry and this sort of things, possibly also indexing the
posts and include them in search results.

I don't know about a magnolia-based approach yet. But it would be nice to have at least a _simple_ solution based upon magnolia (tagging, categories, rss, simple usermanagement and workflow) - I don't know if it's really worth to copy all features from mature solutions like wordpress. The Java world
offers Blojsom and Apache Roller.

Hi All,

I was looking for an option to include blogging facility to our website which we are developing in Magnolia. I just wanted to know few things
before
looking for potential solutions.

Do we have a feature to incorporate blogging facility with magnolia?

Is there any documentation for that?

Has anybody implemented this before?

Thanks & Regards,
