I was checking my email folders last night and to my surprise there were messages in the Realsoft folder!  There has not been traffic on this list since 2017, and imagine my surprise to see the main focus was a new release!

At this point the news is kind of a mixed blessing.  I purchased Real3|D for my Amiga back in the early 90's, and have paid for updates every step of the way.  I'm just a 3D hobbyist, so this is not software I make a living with, and getting an update like this out of nowhere after 5 or 6 years of silence...  I'm not sure what to make of that.

I have started reluctantly learning other 3D programs at this point, since no one wants to use abandon software with a global community of 20 people.  The $100 is not such a big deal, but it is enough to give me pause.  Realsoft has always been very quiet IMO, too quiet, not really keeping in communication with their small (but very dedicated) community and missing really big opportunities to make some good money as a small company (again IMO).

With this release, what is the future plan?  Is this a one-off deal because Vesa has been hacking here and there for 5 years, and decided to kick out a release to get some extra money in the bank? Or is there some real effort to bring Realsoft back into the mainstream?  Roadmap?  The main source of information, i.e. the website, has not been updated hardly at all in the last 6 years.

I want to update, but I'm finding myself reluctant.  I have all but switched from Realsoft, and I don't want to get sucked back in for one final Hurrah!

Matthew
