You might also want to give 2.6.9-bb4 a shot as your guest patch.
I will try this same kernel (compiled and run) on a SuSE 9.1 host shortly.
The kernel launches correctly on the SuSE 9.1 host (compiled locally). Now to see if it has any impact on the bind issue...
