Hi, I can't start postgresql in the user-mode-linux, the systems freezes just right after I run /etc/init.d/postgresql start
I use the debian image on the user-mode-linux.sf.net homepage and upgraded to unstable. I had to install postgresql in the chrooted loopback mounted rootfs. If I tried to install postgresql directly in the uml it would freeze because the daemon is supposed to start after the installation. So, the chrooted installation was just a work around to get postgresql installed. I have enough ram and swap space allocated and the proc device is mounted. There is nothing written to /var/log/postgresql/postgres.log or any other log file which indicates that there is a problem. What could cause this freeze? the uml uses kernel 2.4.26-3um my computer has kernel 2.6.7 thanks for your help regards, daniel ------------------------------------------------------- SF email is sponsored by - The IT Product Guide Read honest & candid reviews on hundreds of IT Products from real users.
