I have made this work in the past; I followed a page on the wiki of the
group I belong to and it worked correctly; i.e. I saw the option for the
skas patch being applied.

http://wiki.arslinux.com/Compiling_The_Kernel is the page I followed. I used
menuconfig so I could select SMP support and some other things.

I used the patch from tuxrocks.com (IIRC) to apply against the 2.6.8 kernel
sources that you can get via apt-get.

Rick

Subject: [uml-user] Building a SKAS patched Debian kernel using "make-kpkg"

Hello,
Is there a way to use Debian's "make-kpkg" to build a SKAS patched
kernel?
I have installed the SKAS patch package.

I have tried this but my problem is this: I run make menuconfig
*before* the patch is applied so I don't get to enable proc/mm from the
menu options. After this I run "make-kpkg --added_patches skas ...
kernel-image" which obviously applies the patch, after the
configuration.

Do I need to edit the .config file manually and add
"CONFIG_PROC_MM=yes" before the make-kpkg stage? I would have thought
that the action of applying this patch would auto-enable this setting?!

The resulting kernel is working but does not seem to implement the SKAS
patch. When UML boots:

Checking for the skas3 patch in the host...not found
Checking for /proc/mm...not found

Am I missing something? I have checked bugs.debian.org and found no
mention of this error...

Thanks!
