Hmm, investigation turns out that:
a) uml_moo works for me.

b) The help message talks about V1 and V2, as you say, but it is 
simply outdated, I'm correcting it.

c) I cannot find the error message you are getting in the uml_moo sources. 
Also, I didn't find it in the executable! So I can't understand how it can 
print that message (except for something in libs, but it's not clear even in 
that case).

So, can you retry installing uml_utilities from that version? You said you use 
UML from little time so probably you have installed the right version, 
however please try.
