Hi all,
I am trying to run it on RH9. I started from the source of Linux 2.4.24 and was
able to do that successfully.
But when it comes to patching the
host kernel ( RH9 2.4.20-8) with skas3 patch to have some performance post, the
kernel recompilation does not succeed.
At boot time, I got a message telling that
" Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel Panic:...... "
I tried to follow many tutorials on the web for kernel recompilation.
What I did is the follwoing:
- Made a copy of the source kernel
- patch it.
- make xconfig (I did not make any change , I could not find proc/mm though)
- make dep
- make clean
- make bzImage
- make modules
- make modules_install
- copy bzImage to /boot/vmlinux-????.img
- mkinitrd
- modify the grub.conf
-restart
I got error at boot time.
Any directions???
