I checked the archives for this, and couldn't find it, which seems
odd to me, as it's happened to me every time I've managed to get a
root hostfs mount working, across two versions of UML and various
other things.
When I get a prompt and try to log in, I get:
Unable to change tty /dev/tty1: Illegal seek
I'm using basically the method listed in:
http://user-mode-linux.sourceforge.net/hostfs.html
Specifically, I did:
mount /tmp/Debian-3.0r2.ext2 /tmp/chroot2 -o loop
cp -pr /tmp/chroot2 /tmp/chroot
find /tmp/chroot -uid 0 | xargs chown rlpowell
linux root=/dev/root rootflags=/tmp/chroot rootfstype=hostfs con1=fd:0,fd:1
con=pts devfs=nomount
The user running the linux command is rlpowell.
Version is: User Mode Linux v2.4.26-3um
