I had to change it a bit like this: screen -d -m -S "system1" ./linux ubd0=root_fs rw umid=uml-system1 con0=fd:0,fd:1 con=pty I am not sure what I did wrong in my setup but I get the feeling it has something to do with screen/minicom.
