I don't think this is the problem, since adding mode=tt to the guest makes it boot properly, ie. without needing to fsck. I've also tried uml-2.6.12-bb8-skas0 with a vanilla host (no skas patch) but get the same problem. Could it be a gcc issue, like broken optimizations? I'm using gcc 3.3.5, as packaged with sarge.
