You didn't experience any bug maybe, but upgrading is still recommended. Be aware that you'll likely need to update /etc/inittab if you disable DevFS, like you'll probably need to do since recent kernels don't support it. You could maybe try using 2.6.12, which is the last kernel to include DevFS.
