Can you clarify if talking about the _host_ or _guest_ kernels?
Which other problems are you experiencing?

Well, consider that UML currently is only in Debian Etch which doesn't
ship 2.6.8 (host) kernels. So I personally don't run tests on 2.6.8
(host) kernels.
