I've got the FedoraCore5-x86-root_fs and linux-2.6.16 from the home page and they are OK, but I want a Centos4 rootfs.

I haven;t found any anywhere, trhe scritps i've found to allegedly creat a filesystem are eiterh ancient, or apparently the poster never ran them even once given the level of errors ( e.g. chroot'ing into an empty filesystem to start installing the system - good job, that).

I managed to cobble something together that makes a useable filesystem, as long as I run as root.

If I run as not root, the boot process keeps declaring allsorts of things ( /var/* etc.) as readonly.

Anybody have any ideas?  Also is ther a defcent FAQ?  I googled for same and could not find.
