Nothing is clear, it arrives at initializing the stdio console driver and no more. However when I downloaded first UML we had more modern ones, so _upgrade_. Better yet, there's an extremely beautiful word for this situation: your configuration is _unsupported_ (not for RH8, but for the kernel).
