I installed Etch using debootstrap under Gentoo amd64 a few days ago.
I emerged deboostrap 0.3.3.2 and then ran "debootstrap --arch i386 etch
uml_root" (or "--arch amd64" if I wanted an amd64 userspace, both work)
and it worked just fine. It was incredibly easy.

What problems did you run into?
