Jeff,

There's no boot log to send... The executable exits immedately:

%% 14:20 10/31 cs12189 rab 54%% ./linux-2.6.23 ubda=FedoraCore5-x86-root_fs-1
mem=128M
Floating exception
%% 14:21 10/31 cs12189 rab 55%% file Fed*
FedoraCore5-x86-root_fs-1: Linux rev 1.0 ext3 filesystem data
%% 14:21 10/31 cs12189 rab 56%% file linux-2.6.23
linux-2.6.23: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), for
GNU/Linux 2.6.9, dynamically linked (uses shared libs), not stripped
%% 14:22 10/31 cs12189 rab 57%% uname -a
Linux cs12189.cs.stolaf.edu 2.6.11.7 #1 SMP Fri Apr 8 14:50:05 EDT 2005 i686
i686 i386 GNU/Linux
%% 14:23 10/31 cs12189 rab 58%%

I tweaked the file system slightly (moved the .rpms to their own
directory), and I can boot the prior linux-2.6.22-rc2 kernel with this
file system fine.

Do these clues help?  Thanks.

Dick
