The accumulo init output looks OK. You're saying that there is no /accumulo directory in HDFS after that command is run? What does your accumulo-env.sh file look like? It appears to be using a default value for the hadoop conf dir ($HADOOP_PREFIX/etc/hadoop); is that value correct for your setup?
