In short, select HDFS on the left hand side list of services and click on configs tab, switch over to Advanced sub tab and edit the property. Save the property. Same applies to all other services. Ambari will indicate if you need to restart the service post config change. However, in the case of an Ambari installed cluster it will be used to manage configurations of dependent services and config files (sans hue.ini).
