NoSuchMethodError: attempting to use jar task on Ant 1.6

Sorry if this has been done to death but I did search the mail lists and 
found nothing.

I am using WSAD 5.1.1 and Ant 1.6.
When attempting to use the jar task in my build script I get:
BUILD FAILED: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError:
org.apache.tools.zip.ZipOutputStream.<init>(Ljava/io/File;)V
This has been described in the eclipse bug:

Its great to know its a  known problem but does anyone know how I can get 
round it?
