What version of Ant are you using? What version and brand is your ssh server? Something else that seems a little strange is the remoteTofile attribute. I am not familiar with this attribute, and the documentation seems a little unclear as to whether or not this is meant to be substituted for todir or used in addition to todir. Can you try without remoteTofile? Also, produce verbose output and send it.
