Could you help me with this?

What needs to be done (and where) in order to allow the mixing of the two?
If it's not possible throu an API, then I need to patch the Aries sources, because I wish to be able to use both annotations and xml definition.

Correct, you can't mix annotations or declaration on the same bean. You can always use the Blueprint API directly (in a declarative way), but it's a good approach IMHO.
