It looks to me like your reducer is an Avro reducer when in this case you should instead subclass org.apache.hadoop,mapred.Reducer. An example of this is in TestSequenceFileReader#testNonAvroReducer: http://s.apache.org/testnonavroreducer I hope this helps. Doug
