You will find here how to run the WordCount example on the direct runner for
instance:
mvn compile exec:java -Dexec.mainClass=org.apache.beam.examples.WordCount \
-Dexec.args="--inputFile=pom.xml --output=counts" -Pdirect-runner
It's the same for all examples. You have one profile per runner.
