If you've been around the community for awhile, you're probably familiar with Eben Hewitt's 1st edition. When released in 2010, it was the first book written on Cassandra, but the technology has changed so much since then that it was definitely due for an update. The new edition is completely reworked for Cassandra 3.X, including coverage of data modeling in CQL, SASI indexes, materialized views, lightweight transactions, DataStax drivers, plus completely new chapters on security deployment/integration (with a guest appearance by Patrick McFadin on Spark integration). I hope that this new edition will serve as a primer to many who are just starting with Cassandra, and as a useful reference for early adopters who were onboard "before it was cool".
