Actually, as noted in the JIRA issue, my intention was to add LDAP
persistence to Castor:

Honestly, I had not considered adding support for DSML 2.0 back when I
began this work. Since that time, the need for LDAP support in Castor
(i.e., the item driving the work) is no longer necessary, hence the
work is stalled.
