Please note that currently only the java.util.Collection type is supported.

Actually, no, that's not correct anymore. Castor is capable of lazy-loading
any collection type, incl. e.g. maps, sorted sets, lists, etc. Where exactly
in the documentation did you happen to find that incorrect 'leftover' ?
