Feel free to follow up if you find the reason(s) for this. If it's easy
to fix, we mitgh have a go at it; but please keep in mind that the
marshalling framework of Castor requires Java 1.4 (to my best knowledge).

As far as I can tell, you are trying to use Castor post-1.1 with Java
1.3, which is not supported anymore.
