No, with Castor 1.2 there's not a way to specify the location of a
custom property file. Shortly after the 1.3 release, a new feature has
been added to use a system property to specify this.
I do remember that a Jira issue has been raised to allow specifying the
location of the property file through a system property, and if I
remember correctly, this has been committed already to SVN trunk.
