Hey Kurt, as far as I know, over the last couple of months there has been a lot of refactoring in this particular area of the source code. Are you using Java 6? It seems to me as if your error is caused by using Java 6, since the setNClob(..) methods have been introduced to PreparedStatement with version 6 [1]. I remember that building Castor worked fine for me with SE6 some time ago. Also, (to the best of my knowledge - as the Bamboo server is currently under maintenance) I think some of the continuous integration builds are broken for some time past.
If you do not depend on the source in trunk, please consider a checkout from one of the (release) tags which can be found at [2] or simply switching back to Java 5.
