Thanks Dave. I hadn't read the release announcement ; I just got on the list. I noticed this from the download page and didn't know if it was an oversight or something so I thought I would point it out.
I'm still trying to figure out how to get things working with couchdb so I can try your snapshot but can't promise to have any valuable feedback given nothing to compare against.
