Hello everyone, Time for more great news - Debian & Ubuntu couchdb 2.0.0 packages are ready for BETA testing. These packages support full auto-configuration and upgrades from CouchDB 1.x.
*Developers*: Please see https://github.com/apache/couchdb-pkg/pull/4 for the nitty gritty details. *Users*: Would you like to test these CouchDB packages? Here's how! 1. Add this *TEMPORARY* repository to your /etc/apt/sources.list file. There is support for Debian 8 (jessie), Ubuntu 12.04 (precise), Ubuntu 14.04 (trusty) and Ubuntu 16.04 (xenial). Add only the appropriate line from below for your distribution: deb https://atypical.net/couchdb-pkg/jessie / deb https://atypical.net/couchdb-pkg/precise / deb https://atypical.net/couchdb-pkg/trusty / deb https://atypical.net/couchdb-pkg/xenial / 2. Run: # apt-get update 3. Run: # apt-get install couchdb and be sure to answer yes when prompted to install packages from an untrusted source. If you want to be 100% sure you install the 2.0.0 version, you can run: # apt-get install couchdb=2.0.0-1 4. Answer the questions when prompted. 5. Relax! CouchDB is running and ready for your data. Optionally, if you upgraded from the couchdb 1.x packages, use /opt/couchdb/bin/couchup to upgrade your databases. The tool has plenty of built-in --help at your disposal. Pre-seeding ----------- If you are curious about pre-seeding answers to these questions for automation purposes (e.g. chef/puppet/ansible/debian-installer), see: https://github.com/apache/couchdb-pkg/blob/debian_2.0/debian/README.Debian NOTE ==== The temporary repository will be removed by 2017-05-01, or once an official repository becomes available. The location of the official repository has not yet been decided. *** DO NOT USE THE TEST REPOSITORY FOR PRODUCTION PURPOSES! *** Only tears will result. Looking forward to your feedback! Joan
