I just had a discussion with the people at Apache Flink around Java 8 lambda expression not storing generic type information.
This forces us provide these types manually and I suppose that Crunch would also benefit from introducing official Java support for accessing this information? The flink people had a discussion with the compiler team here at the beginning of this year [1], which was sort-of rejected (but not completely). They also provided a patch to eclipse JDT which was accepted(!) [2]. My thinking is that we may get this through if enough people stand behind?
