It would be useful to know what kind of XML you want to work with. Raw XML has a very simple (arguably non-existent) type system. There are a number of schema and type systems added on top of it, this <http://www.w3.org/TR/2001/REC-xmlschema-2-20010502/>[1] seems to be a popular standard, but to be honest I haven't worked much with XML. While we do not have this on our immediate schedule, it would be worth looking at what common xml schema definitions/formats that the Drill community would be interested in seeing implemented.
This might allow the discussion to get specific enough for some members of the community to see the broader need for a use case like their own. http://www.w3.org/TR/2001/REC-xmlschema-2-20010502/ -Jason Altekruse On Mon, Feb 23, 2015 at 11:45 AM, Steven Phillips <[email protected]> wrote: > To the best of my knowledge, no one has started working on this yet. > > On Mon, Feb 23, 2015 at 10:53 AM, Chad Smykay <[email protected]> wrote: > >> Here is why I ask: >> >> https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/DRILL/Apache+Drill+Contribution+Ideas >> >> States: >> Support for new file format readers/writers >> Currently Drill supports text, JSON and Parquet file formats natively >> when interacting with file system.
