I have used Jackson a bit for XML support, but never had anything that I
would consider acceptable.  The issue is that XML doesn't map cleanly to
the JSON data model. The simplest problem is the issue of annotation.

Much more serious is the question of how to deal with elements.  Is a
single child element a member of an array? Are children members of an
object, possibly with repeated keys? Or are they members of an
inhomogeneous list?

These issues can be resolved somewhat using Xml schemas, but I didn't get
that far before running out of time for the problem.
