Hello Mark,

"gfsh echo --string" worked as expected with Apache Geode 1.0.0 at least
but it has not worked as expected since Apache Geode 1.1.1, as far as my
test.

Why don't you file a JIRA ticket to fix this issue or fix by yourself and
send a pull request?
