If you check var/log/geronimo.log does it have a stack trace?

Also, does it make any difference if you rename the JAR to something
like "oracle-jdbc-8.1.7.jar" (so it has a name, then a dash, then the
version number)?  I think that's the format the repository expects for
JAR names, though I wouldn't have thought it would cause this kind of
problem otherwise.
