Based on the ActiveMQ resource adapter here: https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/incubator/activemq/trunk/activemq-ra/src/main/rar/META-INF/ra.xml it appears that there is no longer a need to set a parentId. Though searching the resource adapter descriptors in the Geronimo source, I see that there are a few being used in tests that contain the old and out-dated parentId.
