Hi Aaron,
All firewalls are disabled on m machine. I did this by disabling the iptables service. I dont think there is any other firewall running on my machine.

Before I start geronimo, there is nothing bound to port 1099. After starting, I get this:
tcp        0      0 :::1099                     :::*                        LISTEN
