You found a bug which I noted in GERONIMO-3710 and fixed in trunk.
From where this occurs I'd kinda expect that the app is actually
deployed ok but there are some leftover files and perhaps the app
isn't started as you expect?

Seriously, give us some more information on the environment you're
using - Geronimo version, the url Geronimo comes from, the simple
webapp (how simple it is) and the steps you did in the console. Is it
reproducible?
