In case you are using ubuntu (or debian) you can do a "apt-get install sun-java5-jdk", ubuntu multivers repository contains the package. If you like to use a GUI app search for sun-java in Synaptic.

A quick addendum to my last response. Version 5 will report itself as "
1.5.0".

Another thought I just had is that you might want to verify that you're
using the proper version of java. You can find out what version of java
you
are using by typing "java -version" in the console. You should be using
some variation of 5.

Hello,

I think this link might also prove useful depending on what you're

Hi,

It's great to know that you are wanting to use Geronimo. We have the
installation instructions here (although, running it is very simple).

http://cwiki.apache.org/GMOxDOC21/installation-and-configuration.html

The source code actually builds the full and little Geronimo
assemblies. Little G is just the bare minimal that our app server
needs in order to run. The full assembly contains a lot of extra
components such as OpenEJB to support other JEE related things.
Additionally, you can install other plugins as needed to cater to
your
specific needs.

Hope I answered your question,
