Hi, I have not tested yet any versions other than 0.90.x, so not sure how (source) compatible 0.92.x and 0.94.x. Like you said previously in the Nutch user list, it probably suffices to simply drop in the newer HBase libs in a Gora deployment.
Cloudera cdh4 is currently at 0.92.x. When I will upgrade to this version (not sure when this will be), I will take an in-depth look into converting the Gora module. Right now I'm not able to tell how Gora benefits from an HBase upgrade. Note that 0.90.x is still pretty well supported. And if I'm not mistaking the HBase team is about to release a 0.90.7.
