Could you try this with the Ant groovyc task and see if it works there?

Of course. Did it work for you with using the compilerArgs argument?

I thought I had, but I tried again:
compile.compilerArgs = ['-Xlint:unchecked']
but nothing gets put into the call of FileSystemCompiler:
