Is it really that time consuming, check the real sources from sourceSet?
I think, the incremental build is a good choice and I beleive, the changes 
from buildSrc happen most commonly during project setup stage and not during 
develop stage of the real project - so incremental build is not a  bad 
choice.

But ...
... after all - it has to be determined, what path really consumes that times.

From my point of view - the most "unnecessary" time is spent checking for 
updates on remote maven repositories, so a commandline-switch to inhibit that 
lookup could speed up a lot.
