Hello, I'm by no means a plugin expert (I would like to become one, though), but I must say that I like your initiative of starting this discussion on the user list. I think watching a plugin as it gets moulded into shape would be very helpful for future plugin developers.
Anyway, I cloned your repository and will take a look at it in the next couple of days - I do have some (okay, quite some) Groovy experience, so that's an area in which I could see myself contributing.
