I still don't understand why this is not enough (I haven't tried to
compile this):

subprojects.findAll { project -> (project.name != 'PROJECT_X' &&
project.name != 'PROJECT_Y')'} // exclude those 2 non java project

})
configure(javaProjects()) {
apply plugin: java
}
?
